As the House of Representatives drafts articles of impeachment against President Trump, some local members of Congress are voicing their support. Representative Elaine Luria, whose district covers Virginia Beach, parts of Norfolk and the Eastern Shore, tells News 3 she supports removing the President by any legal means.
In an interview with News 3 This Morning anchor Blaine Stewart, he asked whether she preferred impeachment over the use of the 25th Amendment to remove President Trump. Impeachment would guarantee Trump could no longer hold office, dismissing any plans he might have to run for reelection in 2024.
“Well, I certainly do not think that he should hold office again,” she said, “So, I think that that that would be a result that would provide some stability to our political system, moving forward, to understand that he would not be able to pursue office in 2024.”
