“U.S. Rep. Elaine Luria testified before a House committee about the need for sewer services and broadband on the Eastern Shore of Virginia, as Congress considers infrastructure legislation.”
“Luria, D-Va. 2nd District, advocated for infrastructure improvements for the rural region in testimony given May 1 before the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure.”
Luria said expanding rural broadband should be a priority for the committee as it considers infrastructure legislation, mentioning the Eastern Shore specifically.
“Access to high-speed internet is essential to participating in the modern economy. Reliable, fast internet access can connect people to other communities, health providers, jobs, and even allow them to start their own businesses. Although we have made progress in connecting rural areas to broadband, more work needs to be done,” she said.
