VIRGINIA BEACH, VA – Today, Congresswoman Elaine Luria’s campaign announced the launch of her newest television ad featuring Kristen Fenty, a Gold Star Mother who worked closely with Rep. Luria to secure passage of a crucial fix to the GOP tax law that caused taxes to be raised on the children of fallen soldiers.
“Gold Star families have made the ultimate sacrifice,” Congresswoman Luria stated. “The 2017 Trump tax cuts, that Scott Taylor voted for, resulted in Gold Star families seeing a tax hike as high as 37 percent. I am proud to have worked with Gold Star Mothers from Virginia Beach and over 100 of my colleagues in Congress to correct this mistake.”
A 20-year Navy veteran, Congresswoman Elaine Luria has spent her first term serving on the House Armed Services Committee as Vice Chair of the Seapower and Projection Forces Subcommittee as well as the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs, where she serves as Chair of the Disability Assistance and Memorial Affairs Subcommittee. She has passed the third most bills of any member of Congress according to her 2019 Gov Track Report card. Her legislative accomplishments directly benefit service members, veterans and their families.
