Virginia Beach, VA – This week, Congresswoman Elaine Luria was declared the Democratic nominee for Virginia’s Second Congressional District.
“I’m grateful for the volunteers who circulated over 3,000 petitions and for every voter who supports our mission to continue to serve our community in Congress,” said Congresswoman Elaine Luria. “This is an important step in continuing to advocate for Coastal Virginians and fighting for critical issues that affect voters in our district.”
Congresswoman Luria’s campaign submitted three times the required number of qualified voter signatures, more than any GOP candidate running against her, including former Congressman Scott Taylor. Taylor continues to be embroiled in an ongoing election fraud investigation into his campaign’s efforts to forge voter signatures to get a third-party spoiler candidate on the ballot. A second Taylor staffer was indicted last week on election fraud charges, just days after a Taylor staffer pled guilty for her role in the election fraud scandal. Republicans will select a nominee in their primary on June 9.
Elaine Luria is the democratic Congresswoman for Virginia’s Second Congressional District, which includes all of Accomack and Northampton Counties, the cities of Virginia Beach and Williamsburg, as well as portions of Norfolk, Hampton, and York and James City Counties. In 2018, Elaine Luria flipped VA-02 from a Republican incumbent and is a current Frontline candidate.
