Today, the Elaine for Congress campaign announced that the U.S. Chamber of Commerce has endorsed Congresswoman Elaine Luria’s bid for re-election.
Congresswoman Luria is set to debate her Republican opponent Scott Taylor on Thursday at a debate hosted by the Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce. You can see details about the event here.
“As a former small business owner, earning the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s endorsement is a great honor,” said Congresswoman Elaine Luria. “Small businesses are the backbone of our local economy and they need our support now more than ever. In my first term in Congress, I have worked across the aisle to advocate for small businesses during these unprecedented times.”
Congresswoman Luria was previously awarded the Chamber’s Spirit of Enterprise award this June for her bipartisan efforts to support the business community.
“I fought to ensure our region’s businesses were included in the recovery effort like our aquaculture and restaurants.” stated Congresswoman Luria. “As a result, I was able to secure millions of dollars in dedicated PPP funding and was able to assist in retaining nearly 70,000 jobs in our district alone.”
Congresswoman Elaine Luria represents Virginia’s Second Congressional District, which includes all of Accomack and Northampton Counties, the cities of Virginia Beach and Williamsburg, as well as portions of Norfolk City, Hampton, and York and James City Counties. Congresswoman Luria serves on the House Armed Services Committee where she is Vice-Chair of the Seapower and Projection Forces Subcommittee and on the House Veterans Affairs Committee where she is the Chair of the Disability and Memorial Assistance Subcommittee. In 2018, Elaine Luria flipped VA-02 from a Republican incumbent and is a current Frontline incumbent.
