VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — Today, Elaine Luria’s campaign for Congress announced that it will report having raised nearly $1.9 million in the third quarter from more than 16,000 individual donors, and will also report having more than $1.3 million cash on hand at the end of the quarter. This will be the highest amount ever raised by a congressional candidate in Virginia’s Second District in a single quarter, eclipsing the $598k that Taylor reported in his April Quarterly Report. Elaine Luria has chosen not to accept contributions from corporate PACs, and is fueled by grassroots donors – nearly 90% of donations to her campaign this quarter were $100 or less.
“There is an unprecedented amount of enthusiasm in this district for Elaine Luria from Virginians who want to elect a former Navy Commander, small business owner, and mother to represent them in Congress,” said Kathryn Sorenson, Elaine Luria’s Campaign Manager.“These supporters know that Elaine is going to fight to make health care more affordable instead of gutting essential protections, and that she will protect their Medicare and Social Security instead of cutting it to pay for tax giveaways to big corporations. Thanks to this tremendous outpouring of grassroots support, we are ready to compete for every vote in every corner of this district.”
