The 2018 midterm elections have been marked in part by a wave of political newcomers hoping to represent their communities in Washington DC. Among this group are some 32 women running for Congress this year who all bring with them experience serving with the US military.
Mikie Sherrill is running to represent New Jersey’s 11th Congressional district, and Elaine Luria is hoping to win Virginia’s 2nd. Besides their shared military background, Sherrill and Luria are both graduates of the US Naval Academy.
